where can one find von speyr's works in german?

In the USA, finding Adrienne von Speyr's works in German can be difficult.  You can purchase most of them from the Johannes Verlag.  If you are looking for some of the privately published works (i.e. a few volumes of Die Nachlasswerke), you will have to try interlibrary loan through your own library.  The Alcuin Library at St. John's University has the most complete collection of Adrienne von Speyr in German, except for the second volume of Kreuz und Hoelle.  I would very much like to find a copy of this second volume.

Dear Matthew,

Thank you for this site. I look forward to seeing it grow.

I have many, many Hans Urs von Balthasar books, but only a few from von Speyr:
"The Passion From Within,"
"They Followed His Call,"
"Ephesians,"
"The Christian State of Life"
"World of Prayer".

I am wondering if you could make a recommendations about what I should add to this collection? I was thinking about her four-part series of meditations on John, though I am interested in anything and everything.

With blessings for life, peace and all good things,
Jeff

Dear Jeff,

Thank you for your comment and good blessings for the future. I have recently added two lists of books (vonspeyr.net/books/) for those interested in von Speyr's writings. The four-volume series on John is really at the heart of her theology and mysticism (I think vol. 1 and 4 are masterpieces). Von Balthasar set up the Johannes Verlag, the John Publishing House, specifically for her four-volume commentary on the Gospel of John. You may want to read her biography, My Early Years or von Balthasar's First Glance at Adrienne von Speyr. A full bibliography is coming soon.

May God bless your reading of von Balthasar and von Speyr.

In Christ,
Matthew Sutton
